In January, 2010, HOPe donated $8000 for a water project in Kenya. We received the following letters in response to our donation.

Dear Members of HOPe:

Your generous contribution of $8000 will help us continue with the Kituiuni Water Project, which is now in its final phase of completion. Kenya has experienced many years of drought which has caused severe food shortages, and in the area where the HOPe money is being used, the situation is much worse than many other areas in Kenya because of over-population and much drier weather conditions.

The donation will help us in buying more PSV pipes which will be used in water distribution. When more money becomes available to build a second storage tank, then this water project will have reached its final stage. But even now the benefits of the Project are being partly realized because the water has already reached some communities.
It is the generosity of donors like you which enables us to initiate and sustain projects like the Water and Food Program. All of these programs are aimed at reducing poverty by empowering the poor to stand on their own feet and by giving children an opportunity to get an education so that they can provide for themselves and their families in the future.
So, on behalf of the beneficiaries of your benevolence, we thank you sincerely and ask you to consider supporting our work in the future. Your support means the world to those who have very little hope of rising above their  poverty-stricken existence.

                                                                  Sincerely,
                                                                  Executive Director,

Dear Eileen and Friends in HOPe,

Many thanks for the generous donation of $8000 from HOPe for the Kenya Water Project, which Maureen McCarthy and I recommended for your consideration. My friend, Veronica, who is very involved in fundraising for this Water Project, actually cried when I told her about the HOPe money.

I thank you sincerely for helping to bring water, which, in turn, brings food and life to our beloved poor.

God bless the work of HOPe, Nora O'Connor
