Malawai

HOPe has been a contributing partner to the Malawi Project USA (501C3 charity in the US) since its inception in 2007.The mission has been to raise money for the Billy Riordan Memorial Trust. The primary goal is to provide funds that will support their efforts in improving the overall health status of the village of Cape Maclear (Chembe Village) by granting all villagers access to the medical clinic and health center. The objective is to provide relief from suffering and deprivation in this community.

The maternal mortality rates in Malawi are continuously increasing. The death rate is 400 per 100,000 births as compared to the USA at 32.9 per 100,000. The closest maternity hospital is 25 miles away, presenting significant challenges and risks along the way.

HOPe contributed to the construction of the Mother/Baby building. This new building is the center for all of their Childhood Programs, which include vaccinations, feeding, and educational programs.
